Mary Thomas - Augusta-  Bio (Coach T)

I am currently a K-5 technology teacher in Augusta County.  My coaching career started in 1996, and has continued to the present.  In 1998, I began coaching for AIM at locations in Albemarle County, Charlottesville, Augusta County, and did some camps for Roanoke.  I am only coaching in Augusta County and doing Roanoke camps now.

When I am not coaching or practicing, I am spending time with my son who also helps out at the locations.  When he is not helping, we are running to soccer, basketball, self-defense, or baseball.  I also have been known to coach a few of his sports as well.  The remainder of any other time is spent with friends.

Cheerleading has been a constant passion and sport in my life.  I want other girls to have that same passion and work on achieving confidence each and every time they come to be a part of one of my cheer teams.  Cheerleading is not something you can master without continually pushing yourself to be better no matter how old the basics may get.

The most rewarding part about being a coach for any sport, is watching how each and every team member grows and how their ability continues to progress.  When that face of frustration turns to exhilaration you know they're ready to face any challenge at any time.  As a season comes to an end and bonds have been made, you know you have touched a child’s life and they have touched yours.  Neither is ever forgotten.

The one thing I ask to be remembered is this:  Be the best at what you do and work hard at it.  Never quit anything you start and believe in yourself always.  In the end the hard work you put in will be well worth it.  ~ Coach T

Aundrea Arrington  -Bedford-  Bio

I am a mother, first and foremost, of a lively 18-year-old daughter. Cheer leading became a major part of my life when my own daughter got involved 12 years ago. I coached for the local recreation center for 6 years with ages 7 to 13 and moved on to the local High School where I was the Basketball Cheer sponsor for 3 years.

I worked for another company for 2 years as a cheer instructor s and then our community introduced AIM.  Since we began the local class 3 years ago we have added 2 other localities for which I am also the instructor. Every minute spent with these bright young children is a cherished moment in my life.  I look forward to meeting and working with new children each session.

Michelle Willingham  -Glen Allen-  Bio:

My name is Michelle Willingham. I am from Dinwiddie, Virginia but currently reside in Glen Allen, VA.  Cheering has been a big part of my life. I cheered on a recreational team for my elementary school for about 4 or 5 years. I was also on the Junior Varsity squad and the co-captain for Dinwiddie High School my freshman and sophomore year of high school and I was on the Varsity Squad my junior and senior year of high school. All four years of high school I was also on the competition cheerleading squad. My senior year of high school, I was voted "Most Congenial Cheerleader". In August 2008, I graduated from VCU with my Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies. Currently, I am an Assistant Director for a childcare center and an AIM Cheerleading Coach.

Stephanie Frederick - Bio:

My name is Stephanie Frederick. I started off at an early age dancing. My mom use to be an instructor for Disco and Ballroom. I've danced since I can remember. While my mom would teach her clients, I would be in another part of the building doing ballet, tap, jazz, break dancing, disco and ballroom.
I've been working for AIM USA for about 6 years. My children have participated with AIM for a little over 8 years. It is a great program for any child that would like to learn dance, cheer, and/or self-defense.

Jamie Lewis - Albemarle/Charlottesville - Bio

My name is Jamie Lewis and I coach and live in the Charlottesville/Albemarle, VA area. I started cheerleading with AIM at the age of 10 and because of the basics I learned with AIM I was able to progress and cheer in Junior High and High School, finally becoming Senior Captain in Monticello High School. Throughout my cheerleading career I earned numerous awards such as Most Improved and the Leadership Award, also led our squad to two 1st Place Jefferson District wins.

I currently coach a total of 4 squads in the Charlottesville/Albemarle County area, which is both very challenging but incredibly rewarding. When I’m not instructing or developing routines I work full time as an Environmental Insurance Broker and enjoy spending time with my dog Elvis and husband who is a local police officer.

I was so excited to be rejoined with AIM in the fall of 2008 as and instructor and have loved every moment of it. All of my past coaches have had such a major positive impact on my life and I can only hope that I will be able to inspire my young cheerleaders as well.
