When did you start training/ how long:
TKD at 4 (mom owned the place), SJD started at 13, Wushu at 15.
I train everyday because if you don't use it, you'll lose it.
Instructor Manes lives on a private 25 acre N.C. farm with wife, Merilea, and two sons, Jimmy (16) and Anthony (15).

Instructors StrengthsSensi Ron is an excellent teacher and roll model. Not only does he teach the children but my daughters father was gone for 6 months and Sensi Ron took on more of a Fatherly roll with her during class. He would take extra care to speak with after each class and gave her much more love during that time. He reciprocated the hugs she gave to him and encouraged her as well as giving her a firm talking to when she got out of hand in class (which was not often). Thankyou for hiring such a competent person to instruct and care for my child.
ChangesShe is definitely more confident in herself and has a good awareness of what is around her now. She no longer tries to wonder off because she knows that something bad could happen to her.

Comments: Excellent with children. He know's how to motivate without intimidation. He is stern, but tempers that with the right amount of humor and fun. His instructions are very clear and his patience is immeasurable.
My son just finished his white belt classes and he can't wait to start the yellow belt program. This is the first time he's signed up for a program and really enjoyed going. He adores his instructor (Sensi Ron) and he looks forward to each class. Ron is really great with kids and also a great motivator. I love it because his at-home behavior has improved and he understands now why he can't wander by himself. And he is aware more now of potential dangerous situations, but not scared to death, because he feels more in control of what happens. AIM Self-Defense Program is absolutely wonderful and I would recommend it to anyone with young children.

Child Enjoy Most Least The kids enjoy the interaction with Mr. Ron and the other children. They enjoy teaching the younger children the skills that they have already learned. They like being a role model to the younger students.
Changes I bring my 2 children and one friend to class each week and have seen improvements in all of their self esteem, attitudes and personalities. Great job Mr. Ron and Ms. Merilea!

Instructors Strengths: can talk to the kids at all levels. Deals with safety issues directly. Talks to the parents at the end of class and addresses issues with practice and groups as well.
Comments For my child, this is a very scary thing for her to participate in a group. Ron has spent one on one time with her before and after the group. Even a minute of his time teaching her to tie her belt, or tell her she is brave, has made a HUGE difference in her fear level.

Child Enjoy Most LeastMy child is soooooooo timid so she hates the group setting and when the group gets large, she cry's and tries to get out of class. What she likes most is learning and realizing she has capabilities she didn't know she had before.
ChangesIt is only the 4th week but already she is starting to look forward to dress for class and instead of being in the back of the room, she now goes to the second or third row of kids in the class.

Seriously, I fully support what you do for the children, including mine. You helped all of them feel confident, build up their esteem, build their capacity for problem solving, and teach them a very important life skill of self defense. You give the impression that you love what you do and I have a lot of respect for that.
Comments: Mr Ron is wonderful...I have never met a more caring person along with his wife Merilea....they both take the extra time with the kids and not once have I ever seen Mr. Ron make a child, including my own, inferior....I highly recommend him and his self defense class to anyone...thank you so much for helping me with my child...

Instructors StrengthsHe is very funny and tries to make the class enjoyable for the kids but, takes his classes very seriously.Let's the children know that the class is for self-defense only not to teach them how to fight. He only wants people that are serious about learning. He is very dedicated to his job and students.

Instructors Strengths When my daughter first started in self-defense I wonder how would she learn with such a big class and then came Mr. Manes, he knew just what to do to help the children relax as well as the parents .By the time the first class was over ,I knew just how my daughter would learn as well as the other students. Mr.Manes is a teacher,he's a positive person, fair, a good listener, and teaches others to stand up for others when they can't stand up for themselves last ,but not least a FRIENDDDDD.

Recommendations First of all I do recommend self defense to all children it helps them to help themselves and others who may not know any other way out trouble and especially to Mr.Manes in my area
Child Enjoy Most / Least Latrice loves learning new technics she has a hunger for it. The least is when they wear all their gear and it's really hot, but she looks at it this way when its time for a treatment she'll be use to the gear and the heat,and that she can focus on what important the instruction.
Changes Well she always has been a good listener and willing to learn new things. She's quiet but in self-defense she loves leading the class and that helps her with her shyness and she loves telling her schoolmates about self-defense some of them even gives it a try we're thankful and bless.
Comments My family has attended the self defense class for the past two years. My son and husband have found a passion that they can both share and bond within. What a wonderful blessing to have the AIM program so close to us and so affordable! Nothing can compare to the experience of this class. Mr.Ron, his wife Merilea and all of the faithful volunteers make our experience in this program a happy one that is eagerly looked forward to all week!
