Instructors StrengthesSensi Ron is an excellent teacher and roll model. Not only does he teach the children but my daughters father was gone for 6 months and Sensi Ron took on more of a Fatherly roll with her during class. He would take extra care to speak with after each class and gave her much more love during that time. He reciprocated the hugs she gave to him and ecouraged her as well as giving her a firm talking to when she got out of hand in class (which was not often). Thankyou for hiring such a competent person to instruct and care for my child.
ChangesShe is definately more confident in herself and has a good awarness of what is around her now. She no longer tries to wonder off because she knows that something bad could happen to her.

Comments My daughter is in her 4th year of karate and she really loves it! I contribute alot of her confidence to this program and she loves her instructor. She is determined to be a black belt! As a parent, I think this program is especially good for young girls. Self-defense is a must these days, unfortunately. This program boosts confidence and provides discipline. I highly recommend this for any child.
Instructors StrengthesHe is excellent with children of all ages as well as with the adults. His skill and knowledge is evident, yet he explains things well to the students.
CommentsLove the class - had to drop out of the adult class due to a scheduling conflict on Monday nights - but we are hoping to join back up in February. Our son still attends class as an Orange belt - and still enjoys the classes after 2 years. That says a lot for the class and the instructor. He creates a very positive enjoyable atmosphere as well as earning the respect of his students (and their parents!).

Child Enjoy Most LeastEnjoys the practice classes and targets. Sparring is the least enjoyable - but probably the most necessary part of the classes. After sparring class - it feels good to have survived it - and it's nice to know it gets a little easier every time you do it!
Changes Luckily my child has always had a very positive outlook, good grades, etc. I think he is more safety conscious and does feel a little more comfortable and self confident around others - as he is small built. I think these classes will really be an asset for him, both outwardly with coordination as well as inwardly now that he is in middle school and heading for the "teen years". Thanks for making this program available and affordable!
CommentsIn school my son has always done extremely well, however, in athletics he has never strived for anything. Now I can tell you he wants to be just like R. Simms and to be the best he can. We can barely see his physical weaknesses any more. He can even run as fast as his sister when he puts his mind to it!

ChangesSelf-esteem and confidence is more than 100% better than before he began this program. Safety, respect and grades had no bearing on his beginning this program but the reinforcement is great.
Comments: Excellent with children. He know's how to motivate without intimidation. He is stern, but tempers that with the right amount of humor and fun. His instructions are very clear and his patience is immeasurable.
My son just finished his white belt classes and he can't wait to start the yellow belt program. This is the first time he's signed up for a program and really enjoyed going. He adores his instructor (Sensi Ron) and he looks forward to each class. Ron is really great with kids and also a great motivator. I love it because his at-home behavior has improved and he understands now why he can't wander by himself. And he is aware more now of potential dangerous situations, but not scared to death, because he feels more in control of what happens. AIM Self-Defense Program is absolutely wonderful and I would recommend it to anyone with young children.

Changes:My 5 year old has A.D.D.. He has had attention problems in other classes and at home. During his self-defense class he is the most attentive than at any other time. He shows better coordination. The structure and the instructor have been perfect for helping him not only be more attentive but he is genuinely happy and proud of himself for what he is learning and accomplishing.
Ron is a great instructor and has mastered the art of being informative plus just the right amount of kidding around to let the students have fun. My son has been in many karate classes and had already earned his 2nd degree yellow and we chose to start him over again at white for this program. That was the best move we have ever made because he has learned so much more in this class than any of his other classes combined. We have much respect for Ron and how he treats the children and parents
Instructors Strengthes: Instructor Kelly has shown a great interest in the kid's safety. It is evident tot he parent's that he really cares that each and every child in his classes are safe. He has disicipline with the children without making the class seem too tough and discouraging.
Comments:As a whole the program is great. The cost is amazing and the set up is fantastic for for an organization that does not have its own permanant facilities.
Changes:Our son has gained an inner strength that really shows when challenged. He began these classes at a very young age and we feel that they have helped him in his confidence and respect for others his age. As his instructor says, you would never know a black belt outside of their uniform.
The kids love, and respect him. He keeps their attention throughout the class and that's a ver tough thing to do!
Ron Manes is brilliant with the kids. He has a perfect balance of fun and teaching in every class.
He enjoys sparring with the other kids and especially with "Mister Ron". He enjoys the fact that he's learning something that one day may protect him and/or his family.
Changes:He is more focused in school, and his grades have steadily increased since entering the class.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to tell you that Aim Karate has been a great experience for Sarah, and that Mr. Kelly has been an excellent instructor. I believe that Sarah's Aim training has helped her to have the confidence to step out of her comfort zones and try many things she may not have otherwise. This includes running for, and being elected President of the Dumbarton Elementary School SCA earlier this school year. Her mother and I appreciate everything the Aim organization has done for her.
Instructors Strengthes: can talk to the kids at all levels. Deals with saftey issues directly. Talks to the parents at the end of class and addresses issues with practice and groups as well.
Comments For my child, this is a very scary thing for her to partipate in a group. Ron has spent one on one time with her before and after the group. Even a minute of his time teaching her to tie her belt, or tell her she is brave, has made a HUGE difference in her fear level.

Child Enjoy Most / LeastMy child is soooooooo timid so she hates the group setting and when the group gets large, she crys and tries to get out of class. What she likes most is learning and realizing she has capabilities she didn't know she had before.
ChangesIt is only the 4th week but already she is starting to look forward to dress for class and instead of being in the back of the room, she now goes to the second or third row of kids in the class.
Instructors StrengthesMr. Manes is excellent with the children. He shows repect towards each and every child and the children show respect back to him. He has the ability to teach the children the skills that they need and they have fun while doing it.

I have 2 children this session in Ron's class. My son that took it last session also and now his younger sister. They both love it and cna't wait for the tournement and the summer session. Ron has a way with the student and makes the class both fun and educational. He disciplines the children in just a way that the parents don't take offense and the children learn that there are certain ways to act in a class. We will DEFINATELY continue on with Ron while we are living here and we will miss the program when we move. This is the best thing that we have gotten our children involved in since we moved here.

Instructors Strengthes When my daughter first started in self-defense I wonder how would she learn with such a big class and then came Mr. Manes, he knew just what to do to help the childern relax as well as the parents .By the time the first class was over ,I knew just how my daughter would learn as well as the other students. Mr.Manes is a teacher,he's a positive person, fair, a good listener, and teaches others to stand up for others when they can't stand up for themselves last ,but not least a FRIENDDDDD.

Child Enjoy Most / Least Latrice loves learning new technics she has a hunger for it. The least is when they wear all their gear and it's really hot, but she looks at it this way when its time for a ternmament she'll be use to the gear and the heat,and that she can forcus on what important the instruction.
Changes Well she always has been a good listener and willing to learn new things. She's quiet but in self-defense she loves leading the class and that helps her with her shyness and she loves telling her schoolmates about self-defense some of them even gives it a try we're thankful and bless.
